- Synopsis
- The Japan Society of Civil Engineers created the "Guidelines of Waterproofing System for Bridge Decks", which sorts and presents recent basic knowledge on waterproofing systems for bridge decks, failure cases, and other relevant content. It is important for waterproofing systems for concrete slabs to be planned and designed as an integrated system that comprises the deck slab, waterproof layer of the deck slab, drainage system, and paving on the waterproof layer of the deck slab. Further, such waterproofing systems achieve their predetermined performance through the collaboration of the engineers from diverse fields involved in the construction and management of the waterproofing system, and these technicians and engineers need to share a common base of knowledge. To this end, the present guidelines were created to present in an easy-to-understand form the basic knowledge to be acquired by technicians and engineers of different fields involved in bridge deck waterproofing system related work.
