Seismic Retrofit Systems for R/C Buildings without Dowel Anchors

- Synopsis
- The authors proposed the seismic retrofit system without dowel anchors by the steel Brace and the RC shear wall (anchor-less seismic retrofit system). It manufactured specimens with the 1-layer 1-span by the anchor-less seismic retrofit system and specimens were tested under reversed cyclic loadings. As a result, we got the following knowledge. 1) The anchor-less seismic retrofit system frame shows stable load-displacement relationship and the maximum strength can be evaluated by the column punching shear strength. 2) By setting a ratio with column punching shear strength and steel Brace strength appropriately, it is possible to make the Brace yielding precession system by the anchor-less seismic retrofit system, too. 3) By installing a steel boundary, beam and a boundary plate in the part at the top and the bottom of the opening, RC wall with the opening can be effective in the validity as the anchor-less seismic retrofit system.
