Concept of Ken-Materials -Intelligent Materials for Concrete Structures

- Modern technology is too much complicated for the general public to accept and to commit easily.The researchand development of intelligent materials are needed to construct technological systems of more simplified and of brevity.The author propose a concept of "Ken-Materials"which are further proceeded from intelligent materials.KEN(wisdom) means that materials themselves possess intelligent autonomy such as self-diagnosis.In this paper applications of Ken-materials to concrete materials are introduced.In order to give structural materials both strength and seif-diagnosis mechanisms,the materials for reinforcements must be of high modulus and of enough electrical conductivity.Carbon fibers,short or long, sre effective for such reinforcements.
