Synopsis
The Architectural Institute of Japan’s Japanese Architectural Standard Specification JASS 5N (Reinforced Concrete Work at Nuclear Power Plants) has been revised for the first time in 13 years. This revision reviews the content in response to various technological and social changes related to nuclear power plant facilities since 2013, as well as revisions to the underlying JASS 5 and related standards. Specifically, the content was aligned with the 2022 edition of JASS 5, with changes including the introduction of environmental performance as a required performance and a review of deterioration environments. The revision also presents a method for shortening the test period for the test method for dry density of hardened concrete, which is important for evaluating the radiation shielding performance of concrete, as well as a rational procedure for examining ASR mitigation measures in small-scale concrete work.
