- Synopsis
- In February 2024, the Architectural Institute of Japan published the revised edition of “Recommendation for Practice of Cold Weather Concreting.” This revision aims to align with the major overhaul of JASS 5 in 2022, while retaining the traditional method of calculating maturity. It clarifies the temperatures used for calculations by categorizing maturity Mn, which is essential for planning and management, according to the application: M91, based on the predicted daily average temperature for determining the applicable period of cold weather concreting; MCn, based on the planned curing temperature used for planning of the mix proportion; and MRn, based on the measured daily average curing temperature or daily average concrete temperature used for managing the strength of concrete. Furthermore, it clarifies the method for determining the structural strength correction value, 28S91, reviews various calculation methods for insulated curing planning, rationalizes quality control and inspection, and revises the positioning and structure of the References section.
