Synopsis
In order to achieve the government’s goal to attain Carbon Neutrality (CN) by 2050, the concrete industry is also required to undergo transformation. The Japan Society of Civil Engineers established the Research Subcommittee on the Utilization of New Technologies in the Concrete Sector for Carbon Neutrality (Committee 234, Chairman: Yoshitaka Kato) in December 2021. Based on approximately one and a half years of activities, a Concrete Library has been published. The library organizes basic knowledge and trends regarding CN, the latest information on concrete-related technologies contributing to CN, recent strategies and prospects for the utilization of low-carbon concrete, and an overview of future prospects and issues from a medium to long-term perspective. This paper provides an overview of the library and discusses challenges and future developments.
