- Synopsis
- In June 2023, the Japan Society of Civil Engineers Concrete Committee published a new “Recommendations for Design and Construction of Concrete Structure Using Coal Gasification Slag as Fine Aggregate (JSCE Guidelines)”. Additionally, in October, the Reinforced Concrete Works Steering Committee of the Architectural Institute of Japan’s Materials and Construction Committee published “Recommendations for Mix Design, Production and Construction Practice of Concrete with Coal Gasification Slag Fine Aggregate (AIJ Guidelines)”. These guidelines published by both societies aim to quickly popularize coal gasification slag, a by-product of integrated coal gasification combined cycle power generation, which is a clean coal technology, as a fine aggregate for concrete. These indicate the standards and criteria for the quality and usage of concrete using coal gasification slag fine aggregate. This paper introduces the outline of these guidelines.
