Synopsis
JIS A 5011-3 (Slag Aggregate for Concrete-Part 3: Copper Slag Aggregate), which covers copper slag fine aggregate, a by-product aggregate, was revised in April 2016, and regulations on environmental safety quality were introduced accordingly. As a result, in the Kansai area, where the establishment of a supply system for copper slag fine aggregate will be relatively easy, the Kinki Chapter Research Committee of JCI, the Kinki Chapter Materials and Construction Subcommittee of the Architectural Institute of Japan, and the Technical Committee of the Osaka Hyogo Ready-mixed Concrete Industrial Association have been working together to investigate the setting of use amounts according to the environmental safety quality of copper slag fine aggregate in addition to the characteristics of concrete using copper slag fine aggregate for civil engineering use and for building use, and to conduct surveys and research activities for practical application. This paper reports on the main achievements of each committee regarding concrete using copper slag fine aggregate.
