- Synopsis
- The Design edition of the Standard Specifications for Concrete Structures of the Japan Society of Civil Engineers established in 2017 newly introduces an inspection method for steel corrosion accompanying carbonation and water penetration. To check the corrosion of steel caused by the penetration of water, information on the penetration rate of water into concrete is required. In the above Specifications, the penetration rate of water is to be obtained by the expression given in the Specifications or by experiment. This paper explains a test method (draft) established for the purpose of experimentally obtaining the water penetration rate coefficient of concrete subjected to short-term water exposure.
