Synopsis
This paper proposes a simple method for the quantitative evaluation of segregation resistance from the view-point of compaction completion energy that can be applied also for mix proportion design and acceptance inspections of concrete for civil engineering use with slumps between 5 and 15 cm, defining compaction completion energy as the energy required by concrete to reach the theoretical density of the concrete's mix proportion from the concrete's apparent bulk density in the formwork. The proposed evaluation method enables also quantitative and detailed construction planning through quantification of the internal vibrator insertion interval and vibration time.
