- Synopsis
- The research report has been published as "Recommendations for Design and Construction of Ultra High Strength Fiber Reinforced Concrete Structures, -Draft(2004). " by Concrete Committee of Japan Society of Civil Engineers (JSCE). Ultra High-strength fiber reinforced concrete (heresfter called "UFC") has far greater compressive (>150 N/mm2) and tensile strength (>5 N/mm2) than ordinary concrete. The recommendations prescribe a procedure for examining safety and serviceability performance, which differs from the conventional design system for reinforced concrete, in consideration of the resistance to tensile stress of UFC. The structures using UFC are expected to demonstrate high durability. The recommendations determine that the standard lifespan is 100 years under normal conditions and the examination of many items regarding durability is not required. Since UFC has a self-compacting ability, the vibration for compaction is not required in casting and molding. The recomendations have provisions for unique and important notices in construction because UFC contains reinforcing fibers.
