- Synopsis
- As a new generation material RPC (Reactive Powder Concrete) has high strength property, high durability as well as good consistency, the prestressed concrete bridge applied by this material makes it possible to reduce the self dead weight to 1/4-1/5 compared with the usual PC bridge using normal concrete. In this paper, a new construction method which enables to make a long span bridge with short construction periods as well as low cost, is reported considering the assembling U-shaped pre-cast concrete girders and pre-cast concrete slabs. Some new technologies are applied for not only producing the U-shaped girders and slabs but also the jointing those pre-cast blocks. Through the verification experiments, "Akakura Onsen Yukemuri Footbridge" with a 35.3 m span, 3.5 m width and 0.95 m height, has been constructed to confirm those technologies.
