Current Condition and Recommended Practice for Construction of Tunnel Concrete

- Synopsis
- Since two years ago, we have suffered the accidental fall out of concrete blocks from several tunnel linings. In view of such situation, JSCE Concrete Committee decided to urgently publish the recommended practice of tunnel concrete. As the subcommittee on tunnel concrete was already organized in 1992 and has discussed the problems on construction of tunnel concrete, the recommended practice could be published promptly after the accidents. The recommended practice covers shotcrete and lining concrete of mountain tunnel, lining concrete of shield tunnel, and crack control in lining concrete. In this paper, the current conditions for construction of tunnel concrete and the contents of recommended practice are mainly presented.
