- Synopsis
- Framed structures composed of steel beams and concrete-filled tubular-steel iCFTj columns have generally been adopted in CFT structures. Beam-to-column connections in framed structures are fundamental elements. They have an important effect on the structural behavior of framed structures, in the same way as beams and beam-columns. A number of studies have been performed to clarify the structural behavior of beam-to-column connections. Furthermore, various types of beam-to-column connections have been developed to improve productivity of steel-work and site work. This paper outlines conventional and newly developed beam-to-column connection systems, research activities aimed at clarifying elasto-plastic behavior, and models for predicting strength and restoring force characteristics of beam-to-column connections.
