- Synopsis
- "The Senior Work Tokyo and The Tomin Tower Iidabashi 3 chome" is a large-scale structure built to deal with the problems of an aging population as well as the decrease in population within the central metropolitan area. A number of problems impacted the project, such as a reduction in the construvtion schedule from 36 months to 31.5 months due to the underground cultural propenties investigation conducted prior to construction,a deep excavation required close to the adjacent J.R. railway, and the inclusion in the design of an extremely large piloti space, among others, all of which had to be dealt with and resolved during the construction means and methods planning stage. In order to overcome these problems, a number of special techniques were adopted including the top-down casting method and the lift-up construction method, resulting in the rapid construction of this large-scale structure totally free of accidents or injuries. Highfluidity concrete was also used in the application of top-down casting method with excellent results.
